Year 2

Autumn Term

This term we have two exciting topics.

Our first topic is to question ‘If you were in hospital, who would you rather look after you – Mary Seacole or Florence Nightingale?’ We will be researching both significant figures to find out why they are famous and how they became significant in our history.

The second topic is all about ‘Was the Great Fire of London really great?’ We will be examining sources of evidence to find out how the fire started, spread and how it affected the people of London.

In Science, we will be looking at ‘Animals including humans’ – to understand what we all need to survive, and the importance of exercise.

In the second half of the Autumn Term we will be taking part in the Sports Festival and practicing for our Christmas Nativity.

We will carry our daily numeracy and literacy lessons and build on the previous skills taught in Year 1.

We would really appreciate it if you could support your child in their reading and spellings as their daily homework. It is vital that they do this every day.
