At Oxbridge Lane Primary School, our PSHE and RSE curriculum, delivered through Jigsaw, aims to empower every child with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to lead a healthy, safe and fulfilling life. We strive to nurture confident, resilient and independent individuals who understand themselves, develop positive relationships and demonstrate respect, responsibility and empathy towards others. Through engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences, children develop their emotional literacy, critical thinking and understanding of the world around them, preparing them to navigate the opportunities and challenges of modern life.

The Jigsaw curriculum provides a progressive, mindful approach to personal, social, health and relationships education, supporting children’s personal development, emotional wellbeing and mental health. Through its six themes of Being Me in My World, Celebrating Difference, Dreams and Goals, Healthy Me, Relationships and Changing Me, pupils develop an understanding of their own identity, recognise and celebrate diversity, build healthy relationships and learn how to keep themselves safe, both physically and emotionally. Our curriculum also promotes British Values, helping children to understand democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance, while developing the confidence to make informed decisions and contribute positively to their school and wider community.

Our PSHE and RSE curriculum is responsive to the needs of our pupils and the changing world in which they live. While Jigsaw provides a clear and consistent progression of learning, staff adapt and supplement teaching where appropriate to address emerging issues, safeguarding concerns and the specific needs of our school community. We work closely with families, external agencies and our local Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) to ensure that learning remains relevant and equips children with the knowledge and confidence to recognise risks, seek support and make safe, responsible choices. Through this approach, we aim to ensure that every child at Oxbridge Lane feels valued, respected and prepared for the next stage of their education and life beyond school.
